Brazil Approves Bill to Freeze Crypto Assets and Increase Cyber Fraud Penalties to 6-10 Years

According to Livecoins, on June 10, Brazil's Chamber of Deputies Financial and Tax Committee approved bill PL 5819/2025, authorizing courts to freeze suspects' assets held at cryptocurrency exchanges and banks. The legislation increases cyber fraud sentences from 4-8 years to 6-10 years, with an additional one-third penalty for organized crime cases. Preventive detention may be ordered if flight risk exists or losses exceed 100 minimum wages.
