BlackRock Files Form 8-A for Yield-Bearing Bitcoin ETF; Launch Expected Next Week

According to its official SEC filing, BlackRock submitted a Form 8-A registration statement for the iShares Bitcoin Premium Income ETF on Thursday (June 11), signaling an imminent launch. Bloomberg Analyst Eric Balchunas expects the fund to go live next Thursday. The fund will offer spot bitcoin exposure through active call option selling primarily on IBIT, BlackRock's existing spot bitcoin ETF. BlackRock set the fund's sponsor fee at 0.65%, lower than competing covered-call bitcoin ETFs. Goldman Sachs is also developing a premium income bitcoin ETF, expected to launch around July 1.
