Baupost Founder Klarman Warns of AI Bubble, Refuses to Invest in OpenAI, Anthropic

According to Guru Club, on June 16, Seth Klarman, founder of hedge fund Baupost Group, warned that current artificial intelligence investment trends display clear bubble characteristics. Baupost has declined to participate in investments in large language model companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic, citing concerns over their unsustainable burn rates and risk of technological obsolescence. Klarman stated that tech market valuations are "extremely tight" and investors are making overly optimistic assumptions about the distant future. Instead, Baupost is focusing on "AI-agnostic" companies—those unlikely to be disrupted by AI—and examining credit assets perceived as "AI losers" that may present pricing opportunities.
