Australia's ASIC Extends Crypto License Relief Period to September 30, Expands Exemption Scope

According to ASIC, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission extended the temporary enforcement relief period for digital asset businesses applying for Australian Financial Services (AFS) licenses to September 30, 2026, pushing back the previous June 30 deadline by three months.

The extension also broadens the exemption scope to include digital asset enterprises operating through authorized representatives or via intermediary arrangements with licensed firms. ASIC has received approximately 30 license applications since updating its digital asset regulatory guidance in October 2025.
