Australian CFD Issuers Face 23% Lower Annual Levy in FY 2025–26 as ASIC Budget Rises 19%

According to ASIC, in the 2025–26 financial year, Australia's retail contract-for-difference issuers will pay an estimated annual levy of A$128,388, down 23% from A$166,679 in 2024–25. Meanwhile, ASIC's overall industry-funded budget is set to rise 18.6% to A$400.52 million. The regulator attributed the CFD levy decline primarily to lower estimated enforcement costs, as several enforcement matters approach completion after an active supervisory period. ASIC expects to recover A$9.324 million from the retail OTC derivatives subsector in 2025–26, compared with A$12.105 million previously.
