Amazon Aims to Compete With OpenAI and Anthropic on Frontier AI Models Within Coming Year

According to CNBC, Amazon's AI chief Peter DeSantis said on Wednesday that the company aims to compete with OpenAI and Anthropic on frontier AI models within the coming year, acknowledging that Amazon's models have lagged behind the two leading labs on the most demanding workloads. DeSantis noted the company is taking a deliberate approach to strengthen its foundations in data, architecture, and infrastructure. Amazon's latest model, Nova2, launched in December, has attracted about 50,000 customers so far.
