Zhang Yiming Dedicates 50% of Time to ByteDance's Seed AI Division

According to Beating monitoring, Sequoia Capital China founder Xu Xin stated today that ByteDance founder Zhang Yiming dedicates 50% of his time to Seed, the company's AI research division. In a podcast interview on "High Energy," Xu Xin noted that despite Douyin (TikTok) being an already massive business, Zhang continues to allocate significant focus to Seed.

Seed, established by ByteDance in 2023, conducts research across large language models, speech, vision, world models, and AI infrastructure. The division has provided model capabilities for products including Doubao, Coze, and Jimeng.
