According to investigations by the WEMIX core team, South Korean blockchain gaming ecosystem WEMIX recently experienced a major security breach after attackers obtained stolen administrative credentials, enabling unauthorized minting and transfer of millions of tokens worth over $6 million. The compromise stemmed from off-chain credential theft rather than a flaw in the smart contract code itself.
In response, WEMIX immediately initiated emergency containment measures, including suspension of network bridges, freezing of affected liquidity pools, and coordination with centralized exchanges to track and freeze compromised funds. The team is conducting forensic audits and working with cybersecurity experts to secure administrative key vaults and revoke compromised access rights.
