ZEC Plunges 60% on June 5 After Four-Year-Old Orchard Pool Vulnerability Disclosed

ZEC8.87%
According to Park Sang-hyuk, editor-in-chief of Digital Assets, ZEC dropped 60% overnight on June 5 following the disclosure of a vulnerability in Zcash's Orchard pool that allowed unauthorized token issuance. The flaw remained unpatched for approximately four years. Park noted in a June 8 interview with SampioTV that Zcash has released an emergency patch and plans to mathematically block the vulnerability through an Ironwood upgrade, though the upgrade timeline remains uncertain. Market concerns persist over potential failed withdrawals during the transition from the Orchard pool to a new pool, which could indicate prior exploitation.
