According to Zcash founder Zooko Wilcox, a security audit conducted by Anthropic's Claude Mythos artificial intelligence model did not identify "more serious vulnerabilities" in the Zcash protocol. The audit was requested by Shielded Labs, a Swiss non-profit supporting Zcash's development.

Zcash developers had temporarily halted Orchard shielded pool transactions on June 3 following discovery of a counterfeiting flaw that existed for four years, then restored functionality through an emergency upgrade the same day. The Zcash Foundation stated no evidence showed the vulnerability was exploited and detected no unauthorized value creation, with user privacy unaffected.
