WeRide, Geely Remote and Cobus Sign Right-Hand Drive Robotaxi Deal in Hong Kong on June 22

According to Zhitong Finance, WeRide (00800), Geely Remote, and Cobus Group signed a strategic partnership on June 22 at the 2026 International Automobile & Supply Chain Expo in Hong Kong to jointly develop and deploy right-hand drive Robotaxi vehicles. The three parties will co-develop a purpose-built right-hand drive Robotaxi model based on WeRide's production-ready GXR platform, targeting Hong Kong as the initial launch market for commercial operations in right-hand drive regions globally.

The collaboration marks the autonomous driving industry's first move into full "global adaptation" from regional capabilities. WeRide currently operates across 12 countries and 40+ cities worldwide, with the GXR platform already achieving driverless commercial operations in Guangzhou, Beijing, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai. The new right-hand drive variant represents a systematic native development tailored to right-hand traffic regulations, road environments, and user preferences, rather than a simple left-hand adaptation.
