Venezuela's Moron Petrochemical Complex Resumes Operations After Earthquake-Triggered Shutdown

According to local fire officials, Venezuela's Moron petrochemical complex, the country's second-largest operating facility, resumed operations on Thursday following a preventive shutdown due to infrastructure damage from a recent strong earthquake.

Early reports from workers indicate the quake, which killed over 160 people, caused no major damage to Venezuela's extensive oil and gas infrastructure, including the El Palito refinery in Carabobo state near the epicenter, which has a daily production capacity of 146,000 barrels. Further assessments are expected to continue this week as repairs proceed.
