Vanguard Energy Plans to Ship 250,000 Barrels of Fuel to Cuba, First Major U.S. Shipment Since 1960s Embargo

According to U.S. government estimates, Florida-based Vanguard Energy is in talks to export 250,000 barrels of diesel and gasoline to Cuba—the largest shipment of American fuel since the Eisenhower-era embargo. The cargo comprises 100,000 barrels of gasoline and 150,000 barrels of diesel, designated for Cuba's private sector. U.S. officials said the gasoline alone would cover approximately 11 days of Cuba's routine demand amid the island's ongoing energy crisis.
