US Treasury Sanctions 9 Iran-Linked Actors Amid $1B Iran Crypto Assets Freeze

According to the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctioned nine individuals and entities on June 11 for supporting weapons procurement networks linked to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics. The sanctions target China- and Hong Kong-based actors, including the company Mustad Limited and related entities, accused of facilitating weapons acquisitions and financial transfers. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated the department is disrupting foreign procurement networks supporting Iran's military. The action follows earlier U.S. measures that froze approximately $1 billion in cryptocurrency tied to Iran as part of broader efforts to restrict Tehran's access to overseas financial and digital asset infrastructure.
