U.S. Republican Lawmakers Push for Permanent CBDC Ban in 21st Century Housing Act

According to Cointelegraph, U.S. Republican lawmakers are pushing for a permanent ban on central bank digital currencies in the 21st Century Housing Act ahead of an upcoming House vote. Representatives Mike Flood, Warren Davidson, and House Majority Whip Tom Emmer are driving the effort to overturn the current 2030 expiration deadline on CBDC restrictions. Emmer is also advancing the Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act, which passed the House in July 2025 but remains pending Senate approval.
