U.S. Pushes Global AI Standards Coordination at G7 Summit with OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Anthropic

According to Axios, on June 18, U.S. President Trump and government officials met with leading AI executives at the G7 summit in France to discuss coordinating global AI standards. Attendees included OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, Scale AI CEO Alexander Wang, and Mistral AI CEO Arthur Mensch.

OpenAI's global affairs lead Ryan Cohen revealed that participants discussed establishing a global AI standards forum. He stated that democracies aim to create a collaborative platform for exploring AI safety standards, with the U.S. leading the effort. Cohen emphasized that the ability to set standards is key to ensuring continued access to cutting-edge AI models.
