According to CME data on May 7, gold and silver futures saw increases in both trading volume and open interest. Gold futures trading volume rose 20,893 contracts to 207,814, with open interest up 9,525 contracts to 381,228. Silver futures volume increased 15,109 contracts to 74,529, with open interest rising 313 contracts to 99,349.
Natural gas futures also surged, with trading volume jumping 184,315 contracts to 496,758 and open interest climbing 8,539 contracts to 1,630,494.
