U.S. Launches 49 Tomahawk Missiles at Iran; IRGC Responds with Strikes on 18 U.S. Bases on June 11

According to U.S. Central Command, the U.S. military launched 49 Tomahawk cruise missiles against multiple targets in Iran early on June 11 in what it described as a defensive response to Iranian provocations. Strikes were reported near Tehran and along the Persian Gulf coast. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) responded immediately, claiming to have attacked 18 U.S. military facilities across the Middle East using ballistic missiles, including targeting Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan and the U.S. Fifth Fleet base in Bahrain. The IRGC stated it destroyed multiple aircraft and facilities at the targeted sites. In addition, Iran announced it had fully closed the Strait of Hormuz, with Iranian forces warning that any vessels attempting transit would be targeted.
