U.S. Issues Ultimatum to Iran Over Hormuz Strait Access, Warns of Consequences

U.S. officials demanded Friday that Iran publicly guarantee all shipping lanes through the Hormuz Strait remain open and commit not to attack commercial vessels, warning that failure to issue such a statement will result in "corresponding consequences."

Trump said the U.S. will continue dialogue with Iran but believes the ceasefire between the two nations has ended. The Trump administration announced a new round of sanctions on Iran following recent attacks on commercial shipping in the strait and retaliatory strikes on U.S. military bases in the Middle East.
