U.S. Issues Ultimatum to Iran on Hormuz Strait, Warns of Consequences

According to U.S. government officials, the United States has demanded that Iran make a public statement guaranteeing that all shipping lanes through the Strait of Hormuz remain open and pledging not to attack merchant vessels transiting the waterway. Officials warned that if Tehran fails to issue such a public declaration, it will face corresponding consequences.

A U.S. official stated: "We are asking Iran to issue a public statement ensuring all Hormuz Strait lanes remain open and that no ships will be targeted. Without this statement, there will be no favorable outcome for them." The demand comes as U.S.-Iran tensions have escalated following recent attacks on commercial shipping, reciprocal military strikes, and new U.S. sanctions.
