US Imposes 30-Day Travel Ban on Three African Nations Amid Ebola Outbreak

The US introduced a 30-day travel ban on travellers from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and South Sudan on May 19, following a deadly Ebola outbreak in the region. President Donald Trump stated he is “certainly” worried about the highly contagious virus. According to the CDC directive, anyone holding a US passport who visited these three countries within the past three weeks is prohibited from entering the United States. More than 100 deaths and nearly 400 suspected cases have been documented in the DRC since the outbreak was formally announced on Saturday, with two confirmed cases in Uganda. The World Health Organization declared the epidemic a global health emergency.
