U.S. Crude Inventories Hit Lowest Since December 2014 as Strategic Reserves Reach 43-Year Low

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, crude inventories in the Midwest fell to the lowest level since December 2014 as of the week ending July 17. Strategic petroleum reserves dropped to the lowest since March 1983, while domestic crude output recorded its steepest weekly decline since late January. In related developments, Qatar's state energy company reportedly extended force majeure for liquefied natural gas through mid-October, and Greece-based shipping company Dynagas was approved under new EU sanctions on Russia to continue transporting Russian LNG. Iran reported three tankers were blocked while transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
