U.S. Bipartisan Lawmakers Propose Federal Crypto Theft Task Force on Thursday

According to ChainCatcher, bipartisan lawmakers in the U.S. House of Representatives proposed a bill on Thursday to establish an interagency federal cryptocurrency theft task force led by the Attorney General. The initiative, jointly introduced by Republican Lance Gooden from the House Judiciary Committee and Democrat Josh Gottheimer from the House Financial Services Committee, aims to coordinate investigations into crypto theft, fraud, and hacking. The task force will include the Department of Justice, FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and Treasury Department, and targets the $11 billion in theft and fraud losses reported last year.
