UK Unveils £15bn Defence Boost on July 1, Aims for £300bn Four-Year Investment Plan

According to reports on July 1, Prime Minister Keir Starmer unveiled a Defence Investment Plan worth almost £300 billion over four years, including record spending on drones, missiles, AI, and next-generation fighter jets. The plan represents a £15 billion annual increase in defence funding.

Annual defence spending will rise from £54 billion to almost £80 billion by 2029. Key allocations include more than £5 billion for drones and autonomous weapons and more than £8 billion for air defence and Tempest stealth fighters.
