TSMC Responds to Huawei's Tao Theorem: Concept Already Exists, Energy Efficiency Is Key

GateNews

According to Guru Club, on May 28, TSMC's senior vice president Zhang Xiaoji addressed Huawei's Tao theorem at an industry conference in Amsterdam, stating that the concept already exists within the industry and relies primarily on tighter component integration such as 3D stacking technology.

Zhang emphasized that artificial intelligence-driven demand for electricity has made energy efficiency, rather than computing power, the main limiting factor for future chip development. He noted that customers across all segments—from smartphones to AI data centers—now prioritize improving performance without increasing power consumption, as global operators face simultaneous pressure from electricity costs and supply availability.
