According to TRM Labs, three active cryptocurrency scams targeting 2026 FIFA World Cup fans have been identified, with funds moving from Polygon to Tron and directly into exchange deposit addresses. The scams include two fake ticketing sites and one fake betting scheme, with approximately $1.9 billion in scam funds having moved through cross-chain bridges.

Law enforcement agencies including the FBI and LA County Sheriff's Department have issued warnings as the tournament progresses. TRM Labs' Global Head of Policy, Ari Redbord, emphasized that scammers position infrastructure weeks in advance and scale operations when public attention peaks, noting that all payments are recorded on-chain, enabling compliance teams and law enforcement to monitor suspicious addresses in real-time.
