According to Deputy Transport Minister Siripong Ongmahasai on May 16, a bus stopped at a railway crossing due to a red light, preventing the crossing gate from lowering. The train, carrying containers and unable to brake in time due to its weight, collided with the bus.

The accident has left 8 dead and 25 injured.
