Tech Giants, PayPal, and Chainalysis Launch AI and Blockchain Initiative Against $23B Wildlife Trade

The Royal Foundation's United for Wildlife program announced during London Climate Action Week a joint initiative combining artificial intelligence and blockchain analytics to combat illegal wildlife trafficking. The coalition includes Google, Meta, TikTok, Alibaba, PayPal, Chainalysis, and TRM Labs. According to the United Nations Environment Programme, illegal wildlife trafficking generates up to $23 billion in annual revenue while threatening nearly one million plant and animal species. Participating organizations will deploy AI-powered content detection to identify and remove illegal wildlife listings, while blockchain analytics providers will track cryptocurrency transactions used to finance trafficking networks across borders.
