Spot Gold Gains 1%, Breaks $4,000 Level on Friday; Down 2.5% Weekly, Silver Slides 6.6%

Spot gold rose 1.00% to $4,016.21 per ounce at the close of New York trading on Friday, July 17, breaking the $4,000 psychological level. For the week, gold declined 2.53%. COMEX gold futures gained 0.72% to $4,020.90 per ounce, down 2.30% weekly. Spot silver rose 0.69% to $55.9059 per ounce but fell 6.62% for the week.
