SpaceX AI Open-Sources Grok Build After Controversy, Resets User Quotas

According to monitoring by Beating, SpaceX AI open-sourced Grok Build on July 16, resetting all user quotas. The public release includes CLI, terminal interface, and Agent runtime source code under Apache 2.0 license.

Grok Build remains a programming tool without the Grok 4.5 model; cloud connectivity is still required for execution. The open-source decision followed reports of the tool's default upload of complete Git repositories. SpaceX AI adjusted data retention settings and committed to deleting previously uploaded user data.
