S&P 500 Rises 1.2%, Nasdaq-100 Surges 2.6% as Semiconductor Stocks Rally

U.S. stock markets closed higher on June 18, with the S&P 500 rising 1.2% and the tech-heavy Nasdaq-100 surging 2.6%. Semiconductor stocks led the advance, with SanDisk up 11.2%, Intel gaining 10%, and Micron climbing 9%. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose 6.5%.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was supported by industrials and consumer discretionary, with Caterpillar gaining 3.7% and Disney and Nvidia each rising about 3%. The energy sector declined 2.1%, while telecommunications slipped 1%.
