South Korea's Regulatory Committee Recommends Easing Virtual Asset Operator Qualification Standards on July 24

Naver-5.68%
According to Yonhap Infomax, on July 24, South Korea's Presidential Regulatory Reform Committee recommended adding exceptions to virtual asset operator qualification standards, potentially clearing a regulatory hurdle for Naver's acquisition of Dunamu. The committee determined that automatically rejecting virtual asset operator applications based on past economic law violations—even minor ones—constitutes excessive restriction beyond regulatory intent. Naver previously faced a first-instance court ruling for Fair Trade Act violations, which under the original framework would have blocked the acquisition.
