According to Yonhapinfomax, on July 25, the National Pension Service (NPS) of South Korea signed memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with six major Silicon Valley venture capital firms: Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), General Catalyst, Sequoia Capital, Khosla Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and New Enterprise Associates (NEA). The MOUs, signed at a venture investment meetup in San Francisco, establish a long-term strategic partnership framework to expand NPS's innovation-focused investments leveraging its newly established San Francisco office.
Under the agreements, both parties committed to enhance access to innovation-driven investment opportunities, strengthen U.S.-Korea strategic collaboration, and accelerate innovation ventures. While the MOUs do not specify investment amounts or fund formation plans, they formalize cooperation between one of the world's largest pension funds and leading Silicon Valley investors, with potential for expanded joint investments, information sharing, and global startup discovery.
