According to Yonhap Infomax, on July 27, South Korea's four major financial holding companies announced record share buyback and cash dividend programs for 2026, with first-half figures already surpassing prior-year annual levels.

KB Financial completed 1.2 trillion won in buybacks in H1 and plans an additional 700 billion won in the second half, potentially reaching 1.95 trillion won for the full year versus 1.48 trillion won in 2025—a 23.3% increase. Shinhan Financial allocated 700 billion won each in H1 and H2, expected to reach 1.4 trillion won annually against 1.25 trillion won prior year. Hana Financial and Woori Financial also announced substantial increases, with both targeting 50% shareholder payout ratios. The 50% dividend payout ratio has become standard practice among the four groups.
