South Korean Legislator Calls for Accelerated Digital Asset Basic Law and Corporate Market Opening

On July 23, South Korean Democratic Party legislator Ahn Do-geol called for faster implementation of corporate investor participation in the digital asset market and accelerated legislation on a digital asset basic law. Speaking at a conference titled 'Institutional Investor Era, New Start for Trustworthy Digital Asset Market' held at the National Assembly in Seoul, Ahn stated that corporate market participation would strengthen market liquidity, price discovery mechanisms, and overall stability and trust in the digital asset sector.

Ahn emphasized that major overseas financial markets already allow institutional investors and companies to include digital assets in investment portfolios, and global financial firms are expanding digital asset management and custodial services. He urged South Korea to expedite institutional preparations for market opening and noted that the government committed to advancing digital asset basic law discussions in its second-half economic growth strategy.
