According to Yonhapinfomax, on July 24, South Korea's financial authorities restructured the settlement cycle shortening working group into four specialized task forces targeting a T+1 settlement timeline. The Korea Exchange and Korea Securities Depository established task forces focused on market settlement, institutional settlement, custodian operations, and regulatory frameworks. The group held a meeting on July 20 with representatives from exchanges, depositories, financial regulators, domestic brokerages, and foreign financial institutions. Approximately 20 securities firms will participate in the initiative, with financial authorities targeting October for a detailed implementation roadmap. Industry participants emphasized the need for adequate stability assurance and sufficient testing periods over accelerated timelines.
