South Korea Expands Tungsten Supply from Mongolia to 50 Tons Monthly Starting July

On July 10, South Korea's Industry Minister Kim Jeong-gwan met with Mongolia's Industry and Mineral Resources Minister in Ulaanbaatar to strengthen critical mineral supply chain cooperation, according to the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Energy. Mongolia supplied 27 tons of tungsten concentrate to South Korea in June, with monthly volumes set to expand to 50 tons beginning this month. The two countries upgraded their bilateral cooperation committee from vice-ministerial to ministerial level and agreed to expand collaboration in technology transfer, workforce development, and corporate partnerships through the Rare Metals Cooperation Center, with plans to sustain the center beyond its current ODA project timeline ending in 2027.
