Kristin Smith, president of the Solana Policy Institute and CEO of the Blockchain Association, called on the Senate on Tuesday to pass the CLARITY Act this year, provided four conditions are met.
In a message on X, Smith outlined the priorities: protect developers from liability, target bad actors rather than builders, preserve the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act (BRCA) intact, and maintain U.S. leadership in crypto. She emphasized that developer protections strengthen enforcement by creating clear legal distinctions between infrastructure providers and intermediaries that custody assets. A letter signed by more than 60 industry leaders and a separate message from 160 national security and law enforcement professionals support the framework.
