Snap officially unveiled Specs, its first augmented reality (AR) glasses for mainstream consumers, on Tuesday, June 16. The device carries a price tag of $2,195 and is slated to launch in the U.S., U.K., and France this fall. Snap's founder and CEO Evan Spiegel stated that the smartphone era is nearing its end, with AR glasses becoming the next computing platform.

Specs features a retro thick-frame design and requires no external battery or additional controllers. The device is powered by two Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, delivers approximately 4 hours of battery life per charge, and includes a charging case for four additional full charges. Users can view navigation, virtual whiteboards, and streaming content overlaid on the real world, with AI-generated information displayed during tasks.
