Oracle announced on May 12 that Samsung Electronics will adopt its Java SE Universal Subscription across global software development, according to Chosun Daily. The move aims to standardize application development as Samsung expands engineering work and projects.
The Java SE Universal Subscription includes license management and compliance support, plus security updates and technical support. According to Oracle, the subscription should speed patching for semiconductor projects.
Lee Keun-ho, vice president at Samsung AI Center, said the deal should give engineers a standardized environment and cut operational risk. Oracle stated that its offering provides more structured security updates compared to open-source Java.
