Prince Group Executive Arrested on June 14 for False Residence Registration in Japan

According to Asahi Shimbun, Hu Xiaowei (44), a high-ranking executive of Prince Group, was arrested on June 14 for submitting false residence documents. He falsely claimed to have relocated from Osaka to Tokyo's Chuo Ward in April to obtain Japanese permanent residency. He told police he delegated the application to an agent and was unaware of specifics.

The U.S. Treasury and Justice Departments sanctioned Prince Group in October 2025 for operating international fraud schemes, including fake call centers in Cambodia. The sanctions targeted 146 individuals and entities. Group founder Chen Zhi was detained in Cambodia and deported to China. The U.K. later sanctioned Hu Xiaowei (also referred to as Wu Anming) as Chen Zhi's longtime associate.
