Polygon Achieves Year-to-Date Net Deflation as POL Burns Hit 107.7M Against 105.2M New Issuance

POL5.14%
According to Polygon founder Sandeep, the network achieved year-to-date net deflation in 2026, with POL burned through base fees reaching approximately 107.7 million, exceeding new issuance of 105.2 million. Sandeep noted that the burn surge stems from Polygon's high transaction throughput as a payment layer; in May, the network processed 198 million transactions, surpassing other major blockchains.
