OpenAI Codex Weekly Active Users Surpass 4 Million, Up Five Times Since February Launch

According to AXIOS, citing an OpenAI report released June 2, OpenAI Codex's weekly active users have exceeded 4 million, up more than five times since the company launched its desktop application in February. Knowledge workers now account for approximately one-fifth of Codex users, growing at more than three times the rate of developers.

Among knowledge workers, data analysis tasks are growing fastest at 110% week-over-week, followed by research work at 37% and knowledge asset-related tasks at 36%. Over 60% of users now perform multiple Codex tasks at some point during the day, up significantly from less than half in mid-April.
