According to Reuters, Nvidia has notified Chinese customers that its Vera server CPUs, based on Arm architecture, will begin shipping as early as August, with orders already open. Chinese cloud service providers have been testing over 300 Vera servers overseas, and at least one major cloud operator has prepared orders.
The initial products will be deployed only at overseas data centers, not within mainland China. This move marks Nvidia's attempt to maintain its China business as its AI GPU operations have faced severe restrictions, with CEO Jensen Huang acknowledging that Nvidia's GPU market share in China has fallen to nearly zero.
