Nvidia FY2026 Profit Includes $8.9B From Equity Gains, Not Chip Sales

NVDA3.51%
According to Nvidia's fiscal 2026 results, the company reported revenue of $215.9 billion and GAAP net income of $120.1 billion. However, $8.918 billion of that profit came from marking up the value of equity stakes in other companies rather than from selling chips. This equity gains line item produced an unusual inversion: GAAP earnings per share of $4.90 exceeded non-GAAP earnings per share of $4.77. The equity gains, which represent 7.4% of GAAP net income, are larger than Nvidia's $6.386 billion stock-based compensation expense — the factor that typically explains why adjusted figures beat GAAP results at most major companies.
