According to Reuters, Nvidia cut by more than half the number of Asian customers cleared to buy its advanced AI chips on July 13, introducing a whitelist and stricter compliance checks aimed at preventing products from reaching China. The most impacted buyers were neo-cloud providers, which offer GPU-as-a-service for AI and represent among Nvidia's major hardware customers. The tighter screening follows increased due diligence efforts in Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan, where Nvidia staff have been verifying contracts and interviewing end users.
