Moonshot AI Opens Kimi K3 Model Weights with 2.8 Trillion Parameters; Chinese Open-Source Models Hit 68% Token Share

According to Odaily, Moonshot AI will publicly release the model weights for Kimi K3, a high-performance large language model with 2.8 trillion parameters and 1 million token context window, allowing developers to download, modify, and deploy the model independently. Following the Kimi K3 launch, Bloomberg Intelligence reported that Chinese open-source models, including Kimi K3 and GLM-5.2, now account for 68% of overall token usage, while major cloud providers including AWS Bedrock, Microsoft Azure Foundry, and Google Vertex AI have not yet offered these models.
