Mirae Asset Completes 97% Acquisition of South Korea's Korbit, Rebrands to Digital X

According to Herald Business, Mirae Asset Group completed its acquisition of a 97% stake in South Korean crypto exchange Korbit on Thursday and announced the company's rebrand to Digital X.

Mirae Asset founder and global strategy officer Park Hyeon-joo unveiled the new name in an internal email, positioning Digital X as central to the group's "Mirae Asset 3.0" strategy to combine digital assets with traditional finance. The exchange plans to expand into real-world asset tokenization, security token offerings, and stablecoins, while prioritizing compliance controls including anti-money laundering measures and fraud detection as South Korea develops its crypto regulatory framework.
