According to Mastercard's announcement on Wednesday, the payments giant added support for Circle's USDC, Ripple's RLUSD and PayPal's PYUSD as settlement options across its global payments network. The expansion enables issuers and acquirers to settle certain card transactions using regulated stablecoins alongside fiat currencies, with intraday, weekend and holiday settlement capabilities. The stablecoins will be available across multiple blockchain networks including Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, Base, Arbitrum and the XRP Ledger. ARQ, CBW Bank, Cross River, Lead Bank and Nuvei are among the first participants supporting stablecoin settlement in the United States and Latin America.
