Magnitude 5.5 Earthquake Strikes Ibaraki Prefecture on June 16, Strong Tremors in Tokyo

According to Japan Meteorological Agency, a 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck Ibaraki Prefecture at 7:46 p.m. local time on June 16, with a maximum seismic intensity of 5 lower (on Japan's seismic scale) and a depth of 50 kilometers. Tokyo experienced strong tremors from the quake. The agency said there is no risk of tsunami triggered by this earthquake.
